Tom, an accomplished litigator with over 35 years of trial experience, handles a significant amount of trial work for Keane & Bernheimer, PLLC. He successfully tried well over 100 cases to jury verdicts against the top lawyers in New York. Tom obtained many defense verdicts including very high exposure cases involving millions of dollars in potential insurance coverage. He is well known and highly respected as a premier trial attorney in Westchester County.
Tom’s career in insurance defense began with two years at Royal Globe Insurance in White Plains, New York and four years as in-house counsel for INA/CIGNA Corporation in Massachusetts and Manhattan. From 1984-1993, Tom worked as a staff attorney for Liberty Lines, which runs the public bus system for all of Westchester County. In 1993, Tom was a founding partner of Nesci, Keane & Piekarski, P.C., a leading Westchester County defense firm and predecessor to Keane & Bernheimer, PLLC.
Tom’s extensive experience in civil litigation includes passenger transportation; automobile liability; trucking litigation; premises liability; labor law; and insurance coverage. Tom also serves as guardian ad litem in Westchester County Surrogate’s Court.
Tom graduated magna cum laude from Western New England School of Law in 1980. Before law school, Tom received a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Anselm College in 1975.
